3rd Week in Kaysville

Hello Everyone,

Well, apparently this is week 3 but it feels like I got here yesterday. Without further adieu, here is what happened this past week.

TUESDAY, June 23, 2020 - Today we're trying to implement a new work out routine. We either run a mile or bike 4 miles in the morning as well as a plank that increases by 5 seconds every day. Then do core or arms. Throughout the day we do 50 push-ups and run one more mile at night. Hopefully, we'll start seeing some results. Later in the day, I made some guacamole again while Elder Ayers and Elder Connelly made some more cookies, both of which turned out great. Brother Bean then asked us to help him move his old dining room table out and put in a new one. The new table they got was 300lbs and was handcrafted from Canada. Needless to say, it took us 2 minutes to get the old one out and about 30 minutes to get the new one in. I was sweating a bunch, as well as stressing a bunch because there was only about half an inch of clearance through the door (it was 7 feet in diameter) even when we turned it diagonally. Fun times. After that, we went to the BBQ place to go and do a little service there. We did a deeper clean than usual and it was a little gross, not going to lie. When he made our food he forgot about Elder Ohlendorf being vegan and shoved his Keto bowl into the fat that was from the brisket, oops.  I thought it was hilarious until it took another 20 minutes to make him a new one which made us late to our lesson by a couple of minutes, as well as made us sweaty from the bike ride home!  The lesson went well and we had 2 more after that. We talked with one of the Ward Mission Leaders and talked about some ideas that we could do to have the members always thinking about Christ and the missionaries. We decided that a bookmark with a picture of Christ on the front and our information on the back would be a good idea, so that's in the works. After that call I ran a mile with Elder Connelly but totally forgot about district call-ins so when we get back I'm huffing and puffing and have to jump straight on the call haha. So today was a bunch of people seeing me sweaty 😂

WEDNESDAY, June 24- Today, during personal study I thought of a question. Why did Jesus perform the Atonement when he did, as in the time frame of everything? Why make people believe in Him before He came and why have people believed in Him after He came?  I haven't found the answer yet so if anyone wants to try and help me out with that, that would be great :) We also had District council today which was okay. The AP's came which was fun but it seemed super long. But I did get some ideas about how to help our area so that's good. We had 2 lessons which went well. Right after that, we went over to the church to meet up for a service project with the young men. We helped mow lawns and pull weeds. I mowed the front lawn of a non-member with a lawnmower from Amazon. WARNING DO NOT BUY LAWNMOWERS FROM AMAZON, THEY ABSOLUTELY STINK. I had to empty the bag every two seconds because it was so small and it didn't have the power to get the grass to the back of the bag... FUN, I LOVE SERVICE (I really do though 😂) I ran a mile when we got home and then wound down. When we got ready for bed we said comp prayers with everyone and me and Elder Connelly had mouthwash in our mouths, not a good idea, I couldn't feel my mouth for a good 3 minutes haha, oops.

THURSDAY, June 25 - So I've been making quite a bit of omelets for everyone and I have it down really well. They turned out amazing every time. The other Elders biked 17 miles today because they biked to a hike for an investigator and to 2 service projects on opposite sides of their area. We had 2 lessons in the morning. Then we spent a couple of hours trying to fix Elder Ohlendorfs front derailleur on his bike. Brother Bean tried to help but stripped two screws so we ended up taking it to Bountiful Bicycle. After that ordeal, we had a couple more lessons, and we were rushed so we made a pizza and Mac n cheese with hotdogs. Definitely super unhealthy but tasted amazing. I'll just say that I'll be running before dinner from now on hah.

FRIDAY, June 26 - Weekly planning! It was a really good weekly planning session but just a little sad to realize that we have zero people that can realistically be baptized in the next 5 months. So prayers are appreciated, thank you. We had four lessons with the Beans which was great. We had smoked salmon which was super good. We all decided to weigh ourselves which was interesting.  Elder Ayers and Connelly weighed what they thought they would weigh but Elder Ohlendorf and I weighed above what we thought, Ohlendorf by 10 pounds and me by 5 lbs. But, I've gone down one belt loop so I'm not concerned at all (225 for those of you wondering). Then we had 4 more lessons which were great.  We got a couple of service projects out of them. Then I ran up and down the street for a mile while Ohlendorf sat on the driveway eating spaghetti. Elder Connelly was busy.

SATURDAY, June 27 - This morning we had a service project at 7 which was fun. We loaded a couple of trailers full of tree logs and branches that fell from a wind storm. It went faster than expected because so many people showed up to help. When we got home I made a Sweedish Oven Pancake which turned out exactly like home so I was super excited about that. We had companionship study with the ZL's today which went really well. We had a lesson right after and it went exactly like the role play we did. It's like doing what the mission president asks works or something 😂. I adjusted my bike after and had a toasted PB + J which Elder Connelly made. The bread being toasted made it seem so much more unhealthy than it already is which was weird. Later that night we had 3 lessons but 2 fell through. Hopefully, we can reschedule with those families.

SUNDAY, June 28 - Homemade hash browns, so good. All you need is a cheese grater and a pan. We had a Ward Council meeting this morning which was super exciting considering the bishops aren't that responsive. But we got the bookmark idea approved and hopefully, that will be done soon. After that meeting, we rode down to the stake center for a meeting. All of the meetings that I've been too have had missionaries that have come home give talks. They're all pretty good and it's cool to see them be excited to go back out. After that meeting, we went home because everyone tried to shove everyone into two meetings. Then I had personal study which was super good. I had a few questions answered. Then we watched another episode of The Chosen which was good, as always. I was also able to practice the piano for a while which was really nice. Then we texted a few people for this upcoming week and went to bed.

MONDAY, June 29 - So far we've gone shopping and watched the last 2 episodes of season one for The Chosen. SO GOOD. I'm so stoked for season 2. We also got our transfer board; I will be staying with Elder Ohlendorf which I'm excited about but Elder Ayers will be training in a different house most likely, so that means Elder Connelly and his new companion (Elder Stumph) will be here in the Beans house. Also, our district is only 6 Elders now so that's fun.

Anyway, I hoped that you all enjoyed this email and I can't wait to talk to you guys next week! Until then, see ya!

No real pictures this week, sorry mom!

Who can tell me what kind of tree this is? Both the red and green one. (7 points)
