September 23, 2019

Well hello!  Let me catch you up on how Bountiful is handling Elder Nehorai. Well so far we have one person on date for baptism. Her name is Jasmine and she is ELECT. Her husband has always been a member but inactive but now that Jasmine is taking the lessons so is he and he's even listening to general conference talks on his own at work!
They both read the scriptures together and pray every night, I couldn't ask for a more prepared couple. I've been able to play piano for a good chunk of time and just been getting better and better, I had a chance to play in the 1st counselor to the stake presidents house which was really special, we also shared the ministering message with them which invites and motivates people to go and minister to people. This stake that I'm in is the stake that is supposed to be the example stake for the mission, which is a huge responsibility but also really cool considering that there are 75 stakes we cover as a mission. I was able to go on exchanges twice, and that was really fun, there are so many good Elders in our mission. I also had the opportunity to eat dinner with the Claytons which was really amazing, I don't doubt for a second that it's not a coincidence I met him. It's been a blessing to be in this area and can't wait to have more opportunities like this. The bishoprics and stake presidency are really Missionary minded and I couldn't be more blessed. I hope that all of you have had an amazing week and continue to be strong and great people.
I also invite you to read Alma 8-15 about the story of Alma and Amulek, and how much faith they had, I love you all and I can't wait to talk to you all next week!

Background....we have not heard from Mitchell since he left the MTC on Tuesday, Sept. 10th. We are confident he is ok but nonetheless, we don't know where he is.

Mike gets a call from area code 801 from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints around 3 pm on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019. It's a good thing I didn't get the call because I would have been very worried.  The voice on the other end says, "Is this Michael Albu Nehorai?" "Um, yes, but most people call me Mike." (ha)
"Hi, this is Brother Clayton and I'm standing here with your son......and I'm going to feed him."  Mike was so confused...............whaaaat? Who is this guy?

I love that it wasn't a bad phone call. In fact, it was a miracle phone call.
It turns out that Brother Wayne Clayton and Mike are old companions from their mission in Independence Missouri Mission, 38 years ago. Wayne was decorting the church for a 50 year celebration of their Boy Scout Troop. He recognized Mitchell as the new missionary and approached him. Taking a double take at his tag, he asked Mitchell,"is your dad's name Michael Albu Nehorai?"
Mitchell replied in the affirmative and asked him to give his dad a call. The rest is history.

How do you like that? Pretty amazingly awesome. Wayne immediately started sending pictures of their mission. He had gone back 3 times to the mission. Here are a few.

Brother Wayne Clayton and Mitchell meeting for the first time.

This was the first picture we saw of Mitchell and his first companion, elder Allen from Wales.
Then blast from the past pictures poured in..........one after another. Mike couldn't believe he had these pictures. Mike had never seen them before.

Brother and Sister Clayton went shopping Monday night and texted a pic of a jacket they bought for Mitchell. Yes, please.

San Jose Farewell

Mitchell's Farewell Open House

Mitchell is going to UTAH tomorrow!!

Mom was really excited to throw this party for me! She made a custom poster and created a farewell/invite postcard that we sent out to 50 families. Mom chose the beehive theme since Utah is the Beehive State.
Lots of ward members, friends and family showed up. We think that over 100 people came. It was a very successful party and a wonderful and fun night.

Kim Mak made this donut hole beehive. Then my nursery leader Chris Swensen made this 3 layers huge cake. It looked awesome.
Ann Dyreng created these yummy and cute beehive cookies. Wow. Thanks for sharing your talent Sister Dyreng.

After we took this picture we had to quickly kick everyone out so Mitchell could go meet with Stake President Stepan at the church at 8:30 pm.

President gave Mitchell a blessing which was the most spiritual blessing I've ever heard. We felt very blessed. This picture is a sweet moment in time.
