1st week in Bountiful

Monday, September 16, 2019

Hi everyone! So I'm out of the MTC and now I'm in Bountiful, Utah! The last few days at the MTC were kind of emotional and very spiritual, we all said goodbye to each other and made plans to find each other after. My companion Elder Teeples left Monday morning to Ventura California. I left Tuesday morning, the guys in my district helped me with my suitcases and we said goodbye. I took a bus to the frontrunner (train) that took us to Layton. I was able to talk to a lady on the train the whole way, we had really great conversations and it was a great first experience in the real world. Our mission president met us there which was a first apparently! His name is President Call, one of the nicest people I've met. We then piled into a van and went to the mission home, I was able to play the piano while everyone got things sorted out which was nice, a couple of missionaries came up to me and were really impressed. We had lunch in the gym and then went into the chapel to get assigned companions. I was assigned to Elder Allen, he's from whales, he's a pretty nice guy, the first 3 days were a little rough but we're getting along a lot better. He's also the district leader so we've done 3 baptismal interviews for our district already. I've taught a couple lessons and have more planned. I'm excited to be here and hope that I can keep bringing God's children back to him. One story that I would like to share with you is about one of the members I met. Me and my companion were doing companion study at the church and this guy walks around the corner, he says hi to us, says his name is brother Clayton, then looks at my name tag for a little bit, then he asks me what my dad's name is, I say Mike, he then says my dad's full name and I'm kinda freaking out because I'm wondering how he knows my dad, he then says "your dad was my trainer on my mission" I was awestruck and didn't know what to say, next thing I know he calls my dad and they catch up for a while and then he takes a picture with me and sends it to my parents. We have been talking throughout the week and he's just an awesome guy and I'm so glad we were able to meet. Well,

that's all the miracles I have for this week, until next time!
