Hi Mom!
Today we went to the temple and I did 10 initiatories. We then went back and I auditioned for piano so that I could possibly play at a devotional. I also got a haircut today. Did you get a chance to look at the music that I sent the info on last week? Get back to me soon! Love you, I'll email you more soon!

Hello again! This week went by so fast! It only seems like a couple of days ago I was writing to you all. We've all just been learning how to teach about the different lessons in Preach My Gospel which has been cool. We mostly focus on hitting all the points but as simply as possible so that we don't confuse people when we teach them. We have also had many in-depth discussion about the gospel that is so fun to have, I learn so much and even if we talk about something I think I know. There is always something to learn. I've been continuing playing piano and I really enjoy it, it's relaxing and brings others the spirit. Speaking of which, today I auditioned on the piano to be able to see if I can play in the devotionals. It went okay but it was on a grand and that particular one is very soft and it's very hard to express emotion on it, I love the one at the Stake Center though, that one is quite nice. TRC (Training Resource Center) has also been going well. We are assigned new people each week but we get to teach them 2-3 times which is nice. Our teacher Brother Dutson is amazing and I love being in his class, he's so knowledgeable (can tell you 5 different scriptures on a topic you would like to learn about) and also so funny, and he NEVER stops smiling, it's great. I've also been able to give 2 more blessings and be a part of 2 others. I love it and it's a spiritual experience every time. I fasted for 24 hours on fast Sunday and that is so hard when you usually eat 3 full meals a day, I was so hungry, I ate 3 plates of dinner hah. We had testimony meeting with our branches which was really cool, I bore my testimony because our branch leader basically guilt-tripped everyone into doing it "this will quite possibly the only time in your life that you will be able to bear your testimony at the MTC". At choir this week we got to sing Joseph Smith's First Prayer which was really great, again he told a very in-depth story about Joseph Smith and his life, he also brought a mold of Joseph Smith and Hyrum's face! so cool. The devotional was about having a growth mindset which was good but I was kind of tired, oops, but I stayed awake. We also got to teach a member this week which was really refreshing and amazing. We didn't really teach, she told her story which was amazing. Here it is: Her name is Patrisha Lane, who is from Peru, She had a huge turquoise necklace with 5 different rings that were gigantic hah. She was almost the nicest lady I've ever met when she was 22 she had a dream in which she saw the Manti temple (In Utah) and a man in front of it with a guitar. She later was at the temple in Peru when she saw the man in her dream, they ended up talking to each other for about 2 hours until he proposed to her and she said yes which she wasn't expecting because she usually played hard to get! HA. He was an American man and he later took her to the US to get married, can you guess where? The Manti Temple. The icing on the cake is that in his patriarchal blessing, it said that he would have to go to South America to find his wife. WOW! God really wanted those two to be married. On a different note, I haven't gained or lost any weight while my companion has gained 7 pounds hah! The Tuesday night devotional was given by James B Martino and his wife. It was a really straight forward talk that was super good. He talked about a lot of things. I'll give an overview: About 2,100 missionaries are here tonight, in 5 years 600 of you will be inactive, CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT, I think that is nuts! He pointed out that Doctrine and Covenants section 4 was written in February 1829 before the priesthood power of God was on the earth. He also talked about Laman and Lemuel in a different perspective that I haven't heard before. He pointed out that they did everything that they were asked to do, BUT, the only difference is is that they complained the whole time about it. Nephi did not. I thought that was interesting. He said that you need to have a testimony about 5 things on your mission: God is our father, Jesus is the Christ, The Book of Mormon is true, Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and this is the true gospel of Christ. A couple great quotes, "God does not answer prayers to satisfy curiosity" and "if it is to be, it is up to me". He also explained that repentance isn't just being cleansed from sin, it's not just bad to good, it's good to better. You need to repent and ask for him to help you become more Christlike. Me and Elder Teeples luck has ended because we got 2 new missionaries that came into our room, they're nice guys but they're also old, 19 and 23, one's from Kentucky and one's from California. However, we had to sleep in a different room because there is a missionary who was supposed to leave but there is a hurricane on the east coast so he can't fly to South Carolina at the moment so he is a trio with me and Teeples. Well, folks, that's a wrap. See you next time!
